Common Knowledge and Quantiication

چکیده
The paper consists of two parts. The rst one is a concise introduction to epistemic (both propositional and predicate) logic with common knowl-ege operator. As the full common knowledge predicate logics are not even recursively enumerable, in the second part we introduce and investigate the monodic fragment of these logics which allows applications of the epistemic operators to formulas with at most one free variable. We provide the monodic fragments of the most important common knowledge predicate logics with-nite Hilbert-style axiomatizations and single out a number of their decidable subfragments. On the other hand, we show that the addition of equality to the monodic fragment makes it not recursively enumerable.

Modal Logics with a Hierarchy of Local Propositional Quantiiers (abstract)
Although modal logics are most commonly studied in their propositional forms, which may often be interpreted in rst order logic, the topic of modal logics with second order expressive power is almost as old as the eld itself. Motivated by earlier applications of quantiication over propositions in the context of conditional logic, Kripke's early work on the semantics of modal logic Kri59] alread...
متن کاملReasoning with Probabilities and Maximum Entropy : The System PIT and its Application in LEXMED 1
We present a theory, a system and an application for common sense reasoning based on propositional logic, the probability calculus and the concept of maximum entropy. The task of the system Pit (Probability Induction Tool) is to provide decisions under incomplete knowledge, while keeping the necessary additional assumptions as minimal and clear as possible. We therefore enrich the probability c...

1 Abstract We present a system for common sense reasoning based on propositional logic, the probability calculus and the concept of model-quantiication. The task of this system PIT (for Probability Induction Tool) is to deliver decisions under incomplete knowledge but to keep the necessary additional assumptions as minimal as possible. Following this task it shows non-monotonic behavior in two ...
متن کاملEditing logically complex discourse meanings
WYSIWYM (What You See Is What You Meant) is a new methodology for editing knowledge representations by interacting with a generated NL feedback text which presents both the knowledge already deened and the options for extending and modifying it. This paper concerns novel problems that arise when this methodology is extended to deal with certain familiar and supposedly well-understood semantic p...
متن کاملProcessing the Non State Scales Quantiication Questions by Metabase and Knowledge Base System
In this paper we propose a new technique for processing the non state scales quantiication questions. The method, AWMK (answering with metabase and knowledge base), handles heterogeneous information from a large data source which is scattered into several tabulated les. AWMK makes use of our new concept, namely, metabase. A metabase is a richh indexed le to facilitate the retrieval of informati...
